It went ok, I think. The problem was that I was not able to take the chillies out of the bottle once it was done, so eventually the flavour reached a peak and started to become a bit bitter and very hot. I then diluted it a bit with more vodka and that got rid of the heat but it was not the same as it was before. I am now planning on making another chilli vodka using scotch bonnet and habanero peppers - the habanero is supposed to be quite fruity as well as very hot. I might also experiment with blending some other types of flavoured vodkas.

So, after a few months, was it a success? I ask, having grown about three hundred stupidly hot chilli peppers (see blog) and now I'm running out of ideas... chilli sauce, chilli dip, chilli stew, stuffed chilli... at the weekend I bought a bottle of chilli vodka liquer and I'm going to try to match it for taste. So. How did yours go?

As an energy professional who looks over a lot of blogs on the topic, I commend you for working both capacity factor and reserve capacity into your discussion of wind energy. Very, very few people on either side of the pond (I'm in the US) do that. You're also taking into account just how much energy your nation actually uses versus how much each power source can actually produce if exploited. Again, that is very rare in the blogosphere. Typically all the power sources are placed on an equal footing regarding their output.

As I said, I'm an energy professional. I work at a U.S. nuclear power plant. I'm not however, sold on future nuclear power as a good solution (though I naturally lean that way.) What I am sold on is the public considering the facts surrounding all the energy sources when making their decision. At least here in the U.S. there are precious few facts in play on nuclear energy (and energy in general), and a lot of misgivings on the left due to cartoonish TV, movies and books, and a lot of posturing on the right about kooky anti-nukes on the left and nuclear being wonderful.

To do my little bit to bring the discussion more back to the real world, I've written a techno-thriler novel about an American nuclear plant, which is available on the net at no cost at RadDecision.blogspot.com. I hope you'll take a look at it (and if you find it useful, tell others). While the nuclear programs in Britain and the US are different in some ways, I'm sure there are a lot of simularities.
